According to freelance writer for Focus on the Family, Ed Chinn, although Adam and Eve were made in God’s perfect image, the reason they became less than perfect and passed on that imperfection to us was not because God had made a mistake in their design.

The Fort Worth, Texas organizational consultant goes on to say that the reason our first parents ended up with hard work to perform and death looming over them is because they used wrongly that which God had given them, the freedom to choose right from wrong.

Anger is one of those things that happen when we choose to go a different way than how God tells us to live our lives in His Word, according to Chinn. He adds that in other words, the balance in our life is disturbed and therefore we become angry about it.

Although righteous anger can be good sometimes, just look at the way Jesus became angry with the money lenders in the Temple in Jerusalem, we must be careful that it doesn’t get out of control and do permanent damage to others, according to Chinn.

The freelance writer believes that another thing we need to be careful of, if we want to remain calm and keep control of our anger, is to watch out for feelings of guilt. He adds that this can be brought on by doing something that is considered to be wrong or unlawful, Biblically, morally or legally.

However, we can hardly go through life without ever becoming angry about something, according to Chinn. He adds that we should just listen to the advice in James 1:19, where he tells us to be slow to anger and quick to listen.

One of the best ways to remain cool headed and stay away from doing things that might upset other people, is to take the advice of Romans 12:2 where it states that we should be transformed by the renewing of our minds, not conformed to this world, said Chinn.

The freelance writer concludes by stating that the American philosopher, theologian and scholar, Dallas Willard, who died last year, was right when he wrote that “History has brought us to the point where the Christian message is thought to be essentially concerned only with how to deal with sin,” and not how to live a perfect life, Chinn added.
