According to Brandon Cox, editor for Pastors.com, Christians should be using social media to engage the world in their beliefs. Here are five reasons that he believes that social media is important:

Everyone in the World is in need of Jesus Christ.
The easiest way to reach out to people is to get their attention on social media. Cox adds that the Apostle Paul turned the hearts of many towards Christ by using the different means available, although he never compromised the Word of God.

The pastor of 15 years goes on to write that many people use social media, such as Facebook and Twitter. He adds, that we don’t need to we wait for them to come to us for information, when we can contact them on the things which they use every day of their lives.

People are talking about Christ anyway.
Even if we don’t share the love of the Lord with others, they are sharing and talking about Him without us. Cox adds that people on the internet are discussing many topics, including sports, politics, and science, but they are also discussing religion.

Cox continues that most Christians seem to be afraid to talk to people who might not share their views about Christianity and therefore end up talking to only those who believe the same things.

The Word of God should be proclaimed throughout the World.
Cox believes that Christians should use social media to tell the world about the Lord, because the Internet reaches the whole world. He adds that Pastor Rick Warren was reluctant to use social media at one time, but now he uses Twitter everyday to reach out to those who are lost.

It is the duty of the church to share the Good News.
The Great Commission of the church cannot be completed without using technology to reach the world, according to Cox. He adds that the Savior’s words to his disciples were to go into every corner of the globe and share the Good News of the coming Kingdom of God.

People need to hear the Word of the Lord.
According to the editing pastor, people need to know many things, including the Bible, and the easiest way to engage them is the Internet. He adds that even the United Nations views the Internet as a basic human right to learn the things they need in order to better their lives.
