Renowned Nigerian Prophet, T.B. Joshua, has praised Ghana’s main opposition Leader Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for gracefully conceding after the country’s Supreme Court affirmed John Mahama as the ‘validly elected’ President of the country.

He said Africa would be a peaceful Continent if many African leaders emulated the example set by the 2012 Presidential candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party.

Preaching at headquarters of his Synagogue Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) in Nigeria on Sunday, September 1, 2013, Prophet T.B. Joshua said ‘I salute Nana Akufo-Addo’ for conceding after the verdict.

His congratulatory message comes after Ghana’s Election Petition which was heard at the Supreme Court came to an end last Thursday. The Petition heightened public anxiety about the peace and security of the country.

Various peace campaigns have been waged by religious, civil society organisations and leading statesmen calling on the parties in the Petition to accept the verdict of the Court.

The Supreme Court was called into action after Nana Addo, his running mate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and their party’s Chairman Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, petitioned the Court to nullify an Electoral Commission declaration of John Mahama as winner of the 2012 presidential elections.

They argued that several malpractices and irregularities robbed Nana Akufo-Addo of victory.

The Supreme Court, by a majority decision, however upheld the victory of the governing National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) Candidate, John Mahama.

Minutes after the verdict, Nana Akufo-Addo called President Mahama on the phone to concede and congratulate him.

The former Attorney General under the previous NPP administration also urged his supporters to accord the President the appropriate respect and recognition and also accept the verdict peacefully.

In his concession speech, Nana Akufo-Addo expressed his disagreement and disappointment with the verdict but said he accepted it nonetheless and noted that he had no intentions of filing for a review.

Prophet T.B. Joshua, who prophesied the previous Sunday that Ghana would not be plunged into war after the country’s Supreme Court pronounces its final verdict on the petition, was full of praises for Nana Akufo-Addo when he addressed his congregation in the afternoon of Sunday.
