thumb (5)The Christ Apostolic Church International (CACI) has commended Ghanaians for accepting and living with the judgement on the Election Petition delivered by the Supreme Court last week.

It also commended the two leading Parties, The New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and their followers for not fomenting trouble after the judgement, which was feared to cause mayhem in the country, was delivered.

These were contained in a statement signed by Apostle Dr Stephen Kwame Amoani, Chairman of the CACI in Accra last Wednesday.

The Flag bearer of the NPP Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, his running mate, Alhaji Mamudu Bawumia and the Chairman of the party Mr Jake Obetsebi Lamptey went to court on December 28 to challenge the presidential result of the 2012 election.

Both the petitioners and the respondents in the case were also congratulated on waiting patiently till the period in which the petition was disposed of with a special mention to  Nana  Akufo-Addo the NPP 2012 Presidential Candidate, for demonstrating to the whole world and his countrymen that he respected the rule of law.

‘First of all, Nana Akufo-Addo did not incite his followers to hit the street when he was declared loser in the 2012 election but went to the court to seek redress. He has further impressed the world by sitting through the proceedings, accepted the court judgement and also called his contender, President John Dramani  Mahama, to congratulate him.

‘That is why Nana Akufo-Addo deserves to be respected as a statesman and one of the country’s peacemakers. ”

The statement appealed to the two parties, especially the respondents, not to engage in any provocative utterances, actions and activities that would plunge the nation into chaos now or in the future and asked the media not to generate or lead any campaign that would bring troubles to the nation.

‘The people of Ghana, the Christian community, the Muslim community and all other religious bodies should not rest or relent in the efforts to maintain peace but to continue to pray for God’ favour as the first commitment in the entire process to seek national unity and cohesion.’
